P.R.I.D.E. stands for Providing Responsible Information on a Dog's Environment. The relationship between sled dogs and humans is one of the oldest bonds of its kind. Modern sled dog owners are proud of their dogs as canine athletes that are bred and trained to do what they love: run as part of a team. Mush with P.R.I.D.E. supports the responsible care and humane treatment of all dogs and is dedicated to enhancing the care and treatment of sled dogs in their traditional and modern uses.

Specifically, Mush with P.R.I.D.E. was founded to:

Establish guidelines for proper sled dog care and treatment.

Facilitate communication among dog mushers about the treatment and care of sled dogs.

Educate young people about sled dogs and mushing through existing youth groups and schools.

Enhance the care of sled dogs by the development of improved husbandry and veterinary practices.

Promote public understanding about the care, treatment, and traditional and modern uses of sled dogs.

Welcome and assist beginning mushers.

This organization includes a wide variety of mushers, including recreationalists and professionals, long-distance and sprint racers, weight pullers, skijorers, and freight haulers, as well as sled dog veterinarians and other concerned citizens. We have come together to work toward our common goals.

Mush with P.R.I.D.E. membership and participation are open to all. In addition to a copy of P.R.I.D.E.'s sled dog care guidelines, members receive a quarterly newsletter, periodic updates to the guidelines, and a vote in board elections. Annual dues are $15 for an individual, $20 for a family or club, $5 for youth under 18 years old, $10 for a non-voting member, and $100 for a business member. Additional copies of the sled dog care guidelines can be ordered for $5 each, or for $3.50 each for 10 copies or more. Our new Equipment Safety Guidelines are also avaiable for the same price.
